Mr André Gomes de Oliveira, a former tax consultant at Arthur Andersen, is the partner in charge of the tax department at Castro, Barros, Sobral, Gomes Advogados. He has extensive experience in domestic and international tax consulting and planning, having advised Brazilian and foreign companies in structuring projects both in Brazil and abroad. He also coordinates the firm’s tax litigation team. Due to the time spent in the Lisbon office, he has particular expertise in international taxation and planning.

He is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia); International Bar Association; Brazilian Academy of Tax Law; and is the vice-chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rio de Janeiro. Recently, Mr Oliveira is a member of the organising committee of the 71st Congress of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and a member of the practice council of the International Tax Program at the New York University School of Law (NYU). Further, he has been appointed as the general secretary of the Brazilian branch of IFA.

He has published articles on several tax issues, in Brazil and abroad, such as his contributions as national reporter to the IFA congresses held in Brussels (2008) and Copenhagen (2013). He has also participated as speaker in several events, not only in Brazil, but abroad. He is the Brazilian correspondent for a derivatives magazine. Finally, Mr Oliveira was the Brazilian correspondent for the transfer pricing online publication TP Week for the period 2014/2015.
