Marcelo Torres is a founding partner and currently managing partner at Noboa Peña & Torres Abogados, an Ecuadorian law firm with offices in Guayaquil and Quito.

He graduated from Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil's law school in 1993, and from the University of Miami (LLM) in 2000; he also holds diplomas in competition law as well as business management. His professional practice focuses on M&A, commercial and corporate, arbitration, and labour and employment law, all of which he intensively practices by giving advice to both national and multinational corporations. Besides his profuse law practice, he currently shares sit with prominent businesspeople in several board of directors of top ranked private companies where he provides legal orientation to the important business matters brought to the decision table.  

Marcelo Torres also devotes part of his time to the arbitration field as member of the panel of arbitrators of the Inter American Commercial Arbitration Commission (IACAC-ICDR) and the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce's Centre of Arbitration, over whose Advisory Council he currently presides.  

Mr Torres' comprehensive past experience includes guest professor in labour law, arbitration law and business law at the two most prominent universities in Guayaquil. In the public sector he also served as adviser to the City Mayor, the Ministry of Agriculture and as member of the National Securities Council.  

He speaks Spanish and English.
