Gloria Maria de Alvarado was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1955. She was admitted as a practitioner in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1979. She was authorised as a lawyer by the Supreme Court of Nicaragua in 1994.

She studied at Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas, Venezuela, obtaining a JD equivalent in 1979. She also took an introduction course on the US legal system at Georgetown University in 1980, and gained an LLM from Harvard University Law School in 1981.

Gloria is the founding partner of Alvarado y Asociados. She has worked in the areas of corporate and financial law. She served as representative and foreign associate of the firms Bentata Hoet & Associates, and Steel Hector & Davis and Pennie & Edmonds. She has also worked in the legal department of the United Nations.

Gloria is a member of Lex Mundi, the world’s leading association of independent law firms; the International Trademark Association (INTA); ASIPI; the Bar Association of Venezuela and Nicaragua; the Colegio de Abogados de Caracas; and the Nicaraguan Law Association. She speaks English and Spanish.

Gloria’s practice areas include foreign investments; commercial transactions; export regulation; free zones; privatisation; distribution agreements; company law; company acquisitions and sales; company formation; company registration; and consumer law.
